MMI Medical Ministry
In 1974, the First Lausanne Congress established the concept of holistic missions, affirming that evangelism and social responsibility are not in conflict, but rather equal and mutually complementary. Jesus’ own ministry placed significant emphasis on teaching, proclaiming, and healing, indicating that healing is an essential element of the Kingdom of God.
01
Seeking spiritual restoration
In the Bible, healing addresses not only physical ailments but also social relationships and spiritual needs. Thus, MMI’s medical ministry does not limit its ultimate goal to curing diseases; it also aims to promote community health, restore social connections, and seek spiritual renewal.
02
A variety of other ministries
An excellent example of such holistic medical ministry can be found in the early medical missions to Korea. Medical work served as a platform that legitimized the presence of missionaries, who not only combatted rampant epidemics at that time but also engaged simultaneously in Bible translation, education, relief efforts, and evangelism.

Plays an important role in
opening the doors to the gospel
As we move into the modern era, rapid advancements in medical technology have dramatically changed healthcare conditions on the mission field. Establishing hospitals as mission platforms is no longer as straightforward as it once was, and region-specific strategies are now required. Nevertheless, medical ministry remains an effective approach and continues to play a crucial role in opening doors for the Gospel in closed contexts.

The remaining global missions task focuses on the unreached people groups, most of whom reside in the 10/40 Window—home to 82% of the world’s poorest populations. Furthermore, massive natural disasters and ongoing wars cause extensive loss of life, frequently making international headlines. In such a time as this, we earnestly hope for the unification of all Christian medical professionals who possess both professional skills and ministerial expertise. Together, may they join hands to accomplish God’s work.
