Holistic Ministry

Holistic mission means “the whole Church taking the whole Gospel to the whole world.”

The numerous debates in the 20th century surrounding salvation and mission were clarified at the First Lausanne Congress in 1974, leading the evangelical community toward a balanced view called “holistic mission.” Holistic mission considers mission work to encompass both evangelism and social responsibility, seeing them as integrally related.

Evangelism and social service are companions, belonging together yet also distinct. This holistic approach finds its origins in the ministry of Jesus Christ, striving to overcome issues such as the dualistic separation of church and society, and the challenges of making the Gospel universally accessible. This approach seeks to reflect the heart of Jesus’ ministry in both word and deed.
